Need help updating my MacBook Air 2017

My MacBook needed a sequoia software update to be able to run the most recent legacy patcher which allowed me to use wifi on my MacBook. Now that’s it’s outdated currently, the background for the homepage is white and I can’t connect to wifi to update the MacBook. Can someone help? (The progress bar was due to the hotspot on my phone and I ran out of data for that)
