The update changelog on Apple's website doesn't mention it, however. Updated flawlessly from 10.12.5 and changed to the iMac 18,3 definition in SMBIOS. Now it shows up as the 2017 5K iMac and obviously also works without any FakeCPUID configuration. Updated as normal through the App Store without any further changes or tweaks (only SMBIOS).
Currently waiting for the Nvidia graphics driver update to follow...
Edit: This also resolves the issue of macOS Sierra is already installed on this Mac. that some on the new Macs may have experienced as the update changes the build number.
