wifi on vanilla Sierra

I've been trying to get my gigabyte z77n-wifi motherboard with Broadcom Chipset 4311 to work on Sierra and I found a few posts on how to get it to work(adding <string>pci14e4,4311</string> to /System/Library/Extensions/IO80211Family.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleAirPortBrcm4311.kext/Contents/Info.plist but it requires a IO80211 plugin called AppleAirPortBrcm4311.kext, which I don't seem to have.

Does anyone know why it is missing in my vanilla Sierra and once Info.plist is modified do I need to rebuilt KextCache?

if a new kext is added to the plugin folder are there any other steps I need to make? TIA!
