Finally got macOS Sierra to install, but some stuff isn't quite working?

I followed the Mcdonnelltech guide and managed to install macOS Sierra on my ThinkPad X220, but after the install some stuff, namely the Fn key combinations to turn on the Thinklight and increase the display brightness, are not working. I followed the instructions in the guide, and installed all the necessary kexts, but only Fn-PgDn to decrease brightness works. Also, I'm not sure if it's just me but I had to install SmartScroll to get middle click scrolling to work. It seems like something is still a little off about the install. Anyone have any tips?
