Hello Hackintosh community,
I’ve owned a Mac for the majority of my life, but recently decided to sell my iMac 5K and install macOS on my gaming PC. I didn’t see the need to having two computers sitting next to each other taking up so much space. For any other Mac users out there: Yes. It’s true. You can run macOS on a PC, natively, without any sort of software. Just follow this guide:
Guide to installing macOS on a Kabylake Mackintosh for Sierra (10.12.5 Working) - Hackintosher
Thanks to u/RottingEgo for providing the Hackintosher guide.
I only have one thing that’s really bugging me and can’t seem to figure out: fan activity. On the Windows side, I use ASUS Fan Xpert 4, and works perfect! I’ve calibrated the fans in BIOS as well along with setting fans performance to ‘Silent’ mode within ASUS Fan Xpert 4. The PC is silent even when playing something like Halo Online (ElDewrito).
Here are the connections: I have two fans for the CPU connected to a Y splitter and plugged into the CPU_FAN connector. I have two fans connected to CHA_FAN connectors and one fan connected to the H_AMP_FAN (I only have two CHA_FAN connects on my mother board). All these fan work perfectly fine on the Windows side (not spinning unless I start playing an intense game). But on the Mac side, the CHA_FAN and H_AMP_FAN will continuously spin, at a slow, not super audible speed, but spin non-the-less. The fans connected to the CPU_FAN connection only seem to turn on and spin for a split second when I launch an app (I know - sounds crazy). Not sure if there is anything that can be done about this since the fans seem to be working perfectly fine on the Windows side. Anyone else experience this? I’m hoping it’s some sort of .kext file that I missed along the way. Any help would be greatly appreciated :) Other than that, this might be the fastest ‘Mac’ I have ever owned.
Here is my build (some parts I had already owned from my previous gaming rig - I hadn’t upgraded since almost 5 years ago):
