Mac overlords, I have no idea what I'm doing with this. I work at a production company which has just received a bunch of free pcs. I managed to crack into them, and it turns out that many have Windows server 2012 R2 loaded onto them, but it doesn't work with our Macbook editing workflow well. So, I'm trying to figure out how to convert all these pcs to be Macs, that way I can cluster them all together to have essentially a NAS media storage and rendering farm. Here are the stats:
CPU 1 Onboard OS Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter Processor Intel Xeon E3-1220-V2 (4 cores) Processor Refresh Rate 3.10 GHz RAM 12 GB GPU None EthernetController HP Ethernet 1Gb/s 2-port 330i Adapter Virtual Internet Adapters Hyper V Virtual Internet Adapter CD-DVD-ROM Disk Drives 2 Onboard USB Ports 8 (4 USB 3.0 on front) Server Command Level Not Domain Controller Other Extra Hardware N/A
CPU 2 Onboard OS Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter
Processor Intel Xeon E3-1225-V2 Processor Refresh Rate 3.20 GHz RAM 8 GB GPU None Ethernet Controller Intel 82579LM Gigabit network connector Virtual Internet Adapters Hyper V Virtual Internet Adapter CD-DVD-ROM Disk Drives 1 Onboard USB Ports 8 (2 USB 3.0 on front) Server Command Level Domain Controller Other Extra Hardware N/A
CPU 3 Onboard OS Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter
Processor AMD A8-5600K APU Processor Refresh Rate 3.59 GHz RAM 12 GB GPU None Ethernet Controller Qualcomm Atheros AR8161 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller, RaLink RT5390R 802.1 1bgn WiFi Adapter Virtual Internet Adapters Hyper V Virtual Internet Adapter CD-DVD-ROM Disk Drives 1 Onboard USB Ports 8 (2 USB 3.0 on front) Server Command Level Domain Controller Other Extra Hardware SD Card Slot
Mini CPU (CPU4) Onboard OS Windows 10 Pro
Processor Intel Core i-5 6500-T Processor Refresh Rate 2.50 GHz RAM 4 GB GPU Intel HD Graphics 530 Ethernet Controller Intel Dual Band Wireless AC 8620 Virtual Internet Adapters None CD-DVD-ROM Disk Drives None Onboard USB Ports 4 Server Command Level None Other Extra Hardware Bluetooth controller
Basically, I'm thinking of patching up an old mac with some new parts, adding gpus and a ton of hard drives, and clustering these all up via an ethernet switch. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? Also, sorry if the format of all this gets screwed up.
