Will GA-Z270N-WiFi + i7-6700K combo work?

Hey guys!

Been a few years since I last built a Hackintosh, and I've recently sold my old machine to a friend who is now using it as a Windows powered HTPC.

I managed to nab a 6700K for ridiculously low price on eBay and have been speccing the rest of the build around it.

Tonymac recommends the Gigabyte GA-Z170N-WiFi to go with the 6700K, but it's sold out everywhere! There's also a more up-to-date Tonymac build guide where the GA-Z270N-WiFi is recommended to be paired with a 7th gen processor such as the i7-7700K instead.

I was wondering if the GA-Z270N-WiFi, which is readily available, would work in lieu of the GA-Z170N-WiFi for my build? The GA-Z270N-WiFi supports both 6th and 7th gen CPUs so I know theoretically I should be OK - but I can't find any successful build reports online with the combo I'm thinking of going with.

This is going to be a rather minimal build, with the sole use being music production, so I'm skipping a GPU completely and going all out on CPU, RAM and SSDs instead so I'd really appreciate any info about the compatibility. And if this works - what system definition would be the best match for these components?

Many thanks in advance guys!
