Can’t get TL-wn725n dongle working on Mojave after installing the official 10.14 TPLINK driver

I install it and when computer restarts there is no icon for WiFi. The dongle shows up as 802.11n NIC (not configured) but, again, no icon at the top for any sort of WiFi networks. Have tried a few reinstalls not sure what else to do.
