Help troubleshooting boot from SSD/HDD without USB installer

ASRock z87m OC , i5-4570, XFX rx480 and Mojave install via tonymac method w/unibeast /multibeast

Hey all,

I just built my first hackintosh rig and overall it was much easier than I had anticipated. No problems getting Mojave up and running, XFX rx480 surprisingly works without issue, USB ports are functioning as anticipated, Ethernet speeds are the same as I'm getting on my iMac. However, there's one problem I've been unable to solve and that's booting from the target SSD without the aid of the installation USB.

My digging around seemed to suggest this was a common problem with ASRock boards, so it was anticipated, but the proposed fixes I've come across either haven't worked or contained dated information that I was hesitant to rely on. So I was hoping to find someone who mightve had similar issues and/or could share some tips or point me in the right direction.

If I had to guess the issue I'd say that my EFI needs mounted onto my target boot SSD. I tried booting into macOS on the SSD via clover, which I can do no problem, and running clover configurator from there but I was hesitant to change anything haphazardly and risk further problems. One fix involved command prompts in the clover x64 command shell, but for whatever reason I couldn't follow what the poster was describing.

Either way, I'm glad everything has worked swimmingly up until this point and I honestly wouldn't mind if i had to leave the install USB connected indefinitely; I just know that's likely not necessary and I'm interested in learning how everything works for future reference. If it helps aid suggestions, I do own two separate other machines (an actual iMac and a PC) along with a sata to USB cable if its possible to take that drive from the hackintosh and correct the issue by utilizing my iMac.

I appreciate any tips/suggestions y'all have to offer. I can post additional info, photos, etc as needed to help facilitate the issue. Thanks, folks.
