Problems with continuing the Sonoma install

Problems with continuing the Sonoma install

Hi,

Hope you're all doing well.

I have the following config:

  • CPU: Intel Core i9-10900k
  • MOBO: Asus Rog Strix Z490-F
  • RAM: 32 GB DDR4 @ 3200MHz
  • NVME: Samsung 970 EVO Plus - Windows 11 install
  • SSD1: Kingston 240GB SUV500 - Drive to install macOS on
  • SSD2: Kingston 480GB SA400 - Data drive
  • Sapphire AMD RX 560

I am able to boot into the Sonoma install and see all the drives that I have listed. I've formatted the disk and let the installer install macOS on it.

However, when the PC restarts and tries continuing the installation it gets stuck on:

Many [AHCI][DISK] and [AHCI][PRT] flags

Pretty much it would continue trying to initiate the drive and after sometime the prohibitory sign would appear on the screen.

2 years ago I was able to successfully install Monterey on this PC without any issues, however seems now that there is something with the AHCI controller that bugs Sonoma (also Ventura with the newest OC).

I've checked the BIOS settings and did the configuration of the OC folder again but still no success. I should mention that I have the newest version of the BIOS installed.

I've also spent hours searching the internet to see if anyone had any issues with this and didn't find anything useful. I also tried looking at some configs that others used with their Asus Rog Strix Z490 motherboards and saw a config where a kext called CtlnaAHCIPort was used. Tried that kext, but no success...

Do you have any idea as to what I can do to try and fix this?

Thank you in advance!
