Best Linux is for a smooth and efficient experience on paralles , macos.

Recently, i downloaded parallels for my linux requirement like ROS ... , so wanted some help in choosing the best os for this work , ig as it's a vm a lighter os would be good.kindly give suggestions/experience for this.
