I've been using OpenCore on my 2015 13" MBP (2.7GHz, 8GB) for years. It runs my essential apps fine but struggles with slowdowns and input lag when multitasking (e.g., Browser + Discord + Video Player or loading YouTube while opening another app).
I found relatively cheap 3.1GHz/16GB logic boards for my model. Benchmarks show the i7 is ~10-12% faster, and my RAM usage often hits 85%+ with light tasks, so I suspect the upgrade could improve system smoothness with multiple apps open... I know the CPU upgrade is minimal, but I figure every bit counts with this old hardware.
Has anyone upgraded to a 3.1GHz/16GB board running OpenCore Sonoma/Sequoia? Is the performance difference noticeable enough to justify replacing the board?
