I have a MacBook Air A1466 (2017) with a non-Apple 2TB NVMe SSD running macOS Sonoma installed via OpenCore Legacy Patcher (OCLP).
The Mac is getting a new owner, so I wanted to do a clean reinstall of macOS.
I created the installer USB using OCLP (as I’ve done dozens of times for other Macs).
However, something I’ve never seen before happened — the internal NVMe drive doesn’t show up in Disk Utility at all, even when I select “Show All Devices.”
All I see is a small Apple partition and the installer USB itself.
When setting up OpenCore, I noticed there’s an “NVMe Fix” option, but it’s grayed out when I select the MacBookAir7,2 profile (which I believe should be the correct one for this model).
What am I doing wrong?
At first, I thought it might be something related to this specific NVMe drive or an adapter issue, since I’ve seen posts mentioning that some drives need an NVMe-to-SATA adapter.
But that doesn’t seem to be the case, because this Mac already has Sonoma installed and working perfectly — I just need to reinstall it cleanly.
Thanks in advance for any help!
