OpenDuetPkg `BOOT MISMATCH!` error
Image
I'm trying to install macOS Catalina using OC 0.5.9 on my Dell OptiPlex 990 (i7 2600, RX570, non NVME SSD) and a part of the process is installing OpenDuetPkg due to having to do a legacy install and at the absolute start of the boot process, I keep getting a BOOT MISMATCH! error as a part of it. I found in the actual documentation the description of this error which says that this error means that "Bootstrap partition signature identification failed. BDS code will try to lookup EFI/OC/OpenCore.efi on any partition in 3 seconds." But I honestly do not understand what this is saying. What does "Bootstrap partition signature identification" refer to? Here is my sanity check results. Any ideas? There really isn't much info online except for that bit of documentation by vit9696. submitted by /u/hackintosher1 [link] [comments] [► Source]

How can i have two different efi’s in one disk to dual boot two macOS versions?
Image
I have a dell latitude e6320. The machine is capable of running all the macos versions from 10.12 to 10.15 according to my testing. The machine runs on a 2520M so it has an HD3000 and sucks in many graphical tasks in Catalina. I’ve wanted to dual boot Sierra and Catalina because Catalina goes well with my other idevices and stuff but there are some incompatible mac app store apps in sierra but i need some video editing software to run. I can dual boot but whenever I install clover, i always end up not being able to boot the other macOS. They have two different efi files and one is not compatible with the other for boot. i’ve tried searching the internet but haven’t found an answer to how can i manage to get two different internal efi’s through which i can manage to boot catalina from one and sierra from the other. any help would be appreciated. submitted by /u/OfficialPushu [link] [comments] [► Source]

is upgrading from from 10.15.5 to 10.15.6 a known to work process
Image
I have a stable 10.15.5 clover bootloader based install where i gave the new 10.15.6 beta upgrade a try. For me its parking on the apple logo with now progress bar ever being displayed when booting from the "Boot macOS Install Preboot from Prebooter" boot menu selection that is enabled as the default selection after the installer triggers the first reboot. Restarting and boot from the "macOS install on Local Drive" boot menu selection just takes me back to my 10.15.5 install. Do you have to do a from scratch boot and install to get on beta or new rtw updates of macOS versus being able to walk through the upgrade process that would work on apple hardware? submitted by /u/myusrn [link] [comments] [► Source]
is installing from usb 2.0 vs 3.0 bootstick still a legitimate issue
Image
I just lost a bunch of time trying to get a known to be good clover bootloader to work on a sandisk dual drive usb 3.0 boot stick where it would go so far and then display what looked like a splat on the screen with a circle and a line through it in the middle of the display. It worked if if in the boot menu i selected booting the existing macOS install that resided on my ssd versus the macOS installer that resided on the boot stick. So I took the exact same EFI and put in on my old sandisk cruzer facet usb 2.0 boot stick and it immediately was successful at booting the macOS installer that resided on the bootstick. I circled back and tried the usb 3.0 bootstick in backports vs front facing ports [ lenovo thinkcentre m900 skylake i7-6700 igpu-hd520 wlan-intel8260 ] and got the same result with them all. Is installing from usb 2.0 vs 3.0 bootstick still a legitimate issue that can arise as discussed in this old 2016 post [ https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/installing-osx-from-usb-2-...
OpenCore stuck on MACH Reboot
Image
I've been following the vanilla install guide for laptops (HP Laptop 15, i3, 12GB RAM) and I've gotten the computer to recognize OpenCore in the USB installer. However, within a few seconds of starting the boot process, it hangs on the message "Attempting system restart...MACH Reboot." Before that, it says something about memory panic. I'm not sure exactly what to change. I did some googling and it seems like many other users had an issue with their iGPU, but unfortunately my BIOS doesn't seem to have an option to change that. Thanks in advance. submitted by /u/TheDoctor025 [link] [comments] [► Source]

USB PCIE 3.0 Expansion Card Compatibility
Image
So I have seen a bunch of posts relating to this topic but I have yet to see a full list of confirmed working usb 3.0 cards working OOB. Does such a list exist, if so where can I find it? So my current PCIE card is Reneseas and Etron both of which are not compatible OOB and are semi working on 10.15 with GenericUSB3 kext. Obviously, not the best solution. So I am looking at getting a different expansion card. I was looking to get this card Inateck ktu3fr-5o2i but their website does not list it as Macos compatible. Can anyone confirm if this will work OOB? If not does anyone have any recommendations for a 4 port USB 3.0 at min card that also has the internal 19 pin header for USB 3.0 IO on the front of the computer? submitted by /u/AppleTechy [link] [comments] [► Source]

Integrated WiFi on Asus Z390-I Board?

I'm suuuper new but also interested in building a hackintosh, I've been trying to spec it to replace my existing PC, which uses an ITX board (I mean dual boot with Windows with 2 separate SSD's). I am trying to install High Sierra on my AMD desktop and it stucks on EndRandomSeed. For Bios, I set it default then disable CSM, Disable Fast boot, Disable Secure Boot, Enable EHCI handoff, OS type Windows UEFI. I don't have Above 4G settings so I added npci=0x200 to boot-args. Question about wifi adapters
Image
So I have a 9560 hackintosh dualboot and I love it. People are saying the new 9700 cannot be hackintoshed due to soldered wifi. However, I checked the website and it said some of the configurations include two m2 2280 slots. Now amazon sells https://www.amazon.com/Ableconn-M2MN-150E-Converter-Board-Module/dp/B079NB8J3B#customerReviews That's a ngff key E to 2280 adapter. Would I not be able to simply stuff a mac compatible wifi card onto that adapter onto one of the free slots of the 9700? I don't see anything that would preclude this but I'm also not that knowledgeable. submitted by /u/justaluckydude [link] [comments] [► Source]
