Hello There. After seeing success post from others and seeing that initial patches to boot Big Sur arrived on OpenCore and several kext, I decided to attempt to get Big Sur running on my hack and,, it booted :D Specs Model: Dell Latitude E7470 CPU: i5-6300U RAM: 24GB WiF/BT: BCM94360CS2 (with M.2 adapter) What's Work: Audio, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPU, Trackpad, App Store, iCloud What's Don't Work: Battery Status, Sleep (it did sleep but on wake, system freeze. probably due to boot on external USB SSD), Touchscreen (haven't tried installing the necessary kext for that) How do I do it: On the first attempt, I tried downloading the installer with gibMacOS and tried to install the OS into another partition. It did boot into installer when it reboot but failed to detect laptop's KB and Trackpad which force me to use USB keyboard and mouse. However, on second reboot, OC failed to boot with StartImage error. So, I tried looking at others' build and see they use VM or real Mac to install to another disk and boot that disk/clone into target computer. I found initial guide in dortania OpenCore Guide's GitHub PR so I refer to that guide and do second attempt on it and pretty much succeeded booting it. [link] [comments] |
