Coffee lake clean update with OpenCore from Catalina to Monterrey (upgrade OpenCore for dummies)
Image
After a couple of days of digging and learning I was finally able to upgrade to macOS Monterrey on my hackintosh. Even though reading the dortania guide for updating and researching was great again, I also found myself thinking "there's got to be a simpler way". Today I found it and I want to share it with you. This post will be really useful if you're a dummy like who doesn't really understand much of what you're doing or if you've forgotten everything since the last time you hackintoshed . Things I used: OpenCore 0.7.8 (it's the one currently covered by Dortania, so I thought it was the stabler one) MountEFI OpenCore Auxiliary Tools Hackintool My build: Intel i5-8400 MSI Z370 PC Pro Radeon RX580 8GB Sapphire Nitro+ 16gb DDR4 RAM Kingston SATA SSD(And other drives I use on Windows) This guide won't work for AMD as far as I've read. I'd also have to add that I don't use Bluetooth or WiFi. I have an Ethernet connection...
Low mic volume due to call isolation?
Image
My setup: Z370-F Gaming with i5-8600k. I'm using first layout ID I believe. The mics I'm using is a small shotgun mic that runs off the audio jack, and the other mic is from the Steelseries headset MH751. Audio input is set to max in settings. Ever since I High Sierra to Monterey I've had this issue when apps are using the call isolation feature, where the all audio except the call is lowered. With discord and other apps like zoom it's fine because unlike facetime it's not doing the call audio isolation thing. submitted by /u/unfathomableuniverse [link] [comments] [► Source]
UniBeast stuck on Installing Clover Bootloader Page
Image
When I am creating my bootable flash drive, UniBeast gets to this point and then stays there forever. I left it overnight and the progress bar didn't move at all. The flash drive comes up as "Install macOS Catalina" so I'm not sure if it worked and the installer is just broken or if it's legitimately getting stuck at some point. I'm building my computer tonight in which case I can try the flash drive to see if it did indeed finish despite what the installer says. Any help... Read more Author: thegreatkadik [► Source]

[HELP] USB Storage issues with z390 Aorus Elite Monterey
Image
I am completely new to all of this, but I've gotten Monterey to install and boot. Most USB devices work (keyboard, mouse, etc), but plugging in a thumb drive (tested in multiple ports) doesn't seem to work. Is there something obvious I'm missing? I've heard a lot about usb port mapping, but I'm unsure if I need to do that. I currently have USBInjectAll.kext and XHCI-unsupported.kext. I've tried a few different configurations, I saw somewhere someone with the same aorus elite z390 mobo posted a USBPorts.kext and SSDT-USBW.aml and SSDT-EC-USBX.aml, so I tried those files (as in, I wiped the ssd and reinstalled with that kext now present on the installation usb drive), but it didn't seem to change anything. Does the USB config have to be created individually for my mobo or can I use the same one as someone else with the same mobo? Does anyone know which file(s) I need to look into in order to get USB storage working (is it an SSDT or a kext)? Can someone point...

[Help] Third Monitor Not Working On Monterey

Hi everyone, I recently updated my Hackintosh from Big Sur to Montery, My GPU (GTX 780) is natively unsupported by macOS so I used the opencore legacy patcher to use my GPU, but only 2 of my monitors work (DVI, HDMI) my third monitor (DisplayPort) is not detecting an output from the GPU, all 3 did work in Big Sur. I would really appreciate if you could help me with this issue. Recommendations on a GPU for Monterey to handle 3 monitors at 3440x1440
Image
Title explains it mostly. I have an nvidia 3070, but it sounds like that isn't compatible with a hackintosh (unless someone knows of a way to get that to work), so I'm looking for a cheap gpu that is compatible with Monterey that can handle 3 monitors. It's for dev work, so FPS isn't all that important, but 100+ would be nice. submitted by /u/svenjoy_it [link] [comments] [► Source]
What are your setups, hackintosh Video Editors?
Image
Hi all.. i finally got my hackintosh to boot. i9 10850k, RX 6800.. but its really slow in Final Cut Pro. My first inclination is that the smbios im using (iMac 20,2) isn’t the best for using the 6800 to its full potential in Final Cut Pro or resolve.. but then again im not sure what’s the issue. Quick preview of h.265 footage in the finder window is all choppy, whereas my m1 mini does it just fine. Do you all have any suggestions for what could be causing this? Anything I need to post to help, lmk. But also my other question is: for all my video editors, what system are you running for 4k video editing on your hackintosh? Slow boot and missing internal drives for Monterey "ALUC:clientDied" loop
Image
I'm getting the ALUC:clientDied loop on a new Monterey install using OpenCore 0.8.1. In the bootup log, I see these lines repeated: ALUC:clientDied ALUC:initmethod SetClientDomain entered registerNotificationPort entered Eventually, after about 15 loops though the above pattern, and about 5 minutes later, it does eventually boot up Monterey. None of my internal drives are visible though - not even in the Disk Utility - except for the Monterey host drive itself. Searching around the forums, I found this post on tonymacx86 , which suggested that it might be Trim issue relating to NVME devices. But the drive is a Western Digital WDS500G2B0A, which is not an NVME device and both the BIOS and Mac itself (once booted) show no NVME devices attached. None of the suggested fixes linked off that thread - e.g setting SetApfsTrimTimeout to zero - made any difference anyway. Note: the exact same EFI partition boots up a Big Sur install just fine, with all my internal drives showing i...

I want to port my app to older ios version(meant to be installed only with JB), so i need older mac os with older xcode, smth like yosemite(since i need target ios ~4-5-6). Right now i have modern intel celeron laptop board(which i think fits best, but it's performance might be not enough for mac os), and laptop with amd e-450 APU(which is more powerful than this celeron). Which is best in terms of such old mac os version? I don't need simulator, since i have real device to debug, so GPU drivers aren't mandatory, it will be enough to have OK performance in xcode. submitted by /u/monobogdan1337 [link] [comments] [► Source]

Apple Silicone SMBIOS
Image
Out of sheer curiosity, has anyone tried to use SMBIOS for Macs that have an M1? The Opencore guide sort of says that they do not rely on ACPI, do not have DeviceProperties and board-id does not apply to them. More information here: https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Install-Guide/extras/smbios-support.html#how-to-decide I understand that choosing an SMBIOS means to match it as close as possible to your system compared to the real thing. I am not planning to use them or anything, just wanted to know if it was even possible to use them. submitted by /u/platillolive [link] [comments] [► Source]
