How do I make my Bluetooth adapter work

I currently have a WiFi card that has Bluetooth capability but I'm getting little range due to it being Bluetooth 4.1 or its faulty.

I got a Bluetooth adapter and people on the subreddit say it works (tp link ub500) but it still uses my Bluetooth card, how can I force macos to use the adapters Bluetooth?
