I have been having issues with sharing files over an exFat formatted SATA drive to Windows. Is there a better file system setup for a storage drive to share files across dual boot?

So I have tried using an exFat SATA hard drive to store and share files across my Windows 10/OS X Sierra hackintosh (both of which are on their own SSDs). I chose this file system because it supported read/write on both operating systems and supported large file sizes.

While Sierra recognizes files changes from Windows, Windows doesn't always update the files I write (or remove) from Sierra. Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a better alternative out there?
