Hi, I'm doing a G5 Hackintosh and was wondering exactly how to add 'real' USB 3. Since I couldn't find much about it, I started this guide. I'm not there yet but I'll complete it as we go! :) So this is the front I/O of a 2008 G5 Mac Pro: I figured out that you can easily pry off the metal back, unplug the power button and unscrew the tiny front I/O board: frontside of the G5 front I/O board Now the question is: how to I replace the USB 2 connector with a USB 3.1 gen 2 connector? /u/GFlunk has done it before so I ask him to chime in with some details :) Just remove the old one and hot glue a fresh USB-3-connector-to-motherboard cable in? How did you guys do it? [link] [comments] |
