Hard drive question.

Is it wise (recommended) to have both OS installed on seperate drives? Because I can install windows on my Mac, and it will run off the same drive. So is that a precaution? Or absolutely necessary for a Hackintosh? Why is that?

If so, can I safely install anything else on those drives? ie. Rather than just having 2x 250gb drives dedicated to the OS, could I have 2x2tb drives for each OS, where I also keep files relevant to each system?

Also... if I want my PC and Mac alter ego's to have access to all the same files, is that possible? Or do I need a HDD for my Mac stuff (Work and personal), and a HDD for my PC stuff (Games, and some work). And is there a way (Dropbox maybe? To have my PC and Mac share the most critical files?
