2012 cMP Upgrade Paths

I have a stockpile of mint 2012 Classic Mac Pros. I need to get them from Sierra, to High Sierra, to Mojave so that incrementally the machines firmware gets updated. I have not found anyway to download and run the incremental firmware versions without them being bundled with the OS distribution. If anyone has a shortcut there, please share.

That being said, I am able to get these machines to run the firmware flash and go from Sierra-High Sierra. But then it gets complicated.

To run the Mojave installer, you must have a Metal API GPU installed and running. However, if you switch to a metal GPU there is no display ouput to then boot up, run the firmware update, and then run the software update, to be able to run a metal GPU...it seems like a catch 22?

Is there anyway that OCLP can bridge this gap and forcibly run firmware updates and/or include display drivers to be able to see the display and spin up High Sierra on a metal GPU for display output and then run the Mojave process from there?

Thanks
