I've got a mid-2012 13" Macbook Pro 9,2, dual core i7 2.9 GHz, 16GB RAM, 500GB Samsung 860 Evo ssd. The machine does real work, mainly web development in php / python / go using vim, a bunch of terminals, and Firefox, with apache, mysql etc. running in the background, and occasionally compiling things. The machine has to run Vmware so Ventura is the lowest possible candidate.
From what I've read on this sub, Sequoia is too heavy for this machine, but I've read contradictory reports on the performance of Ventura vs Sonoma. Some people claim Ventura is the best, but I've seen other people claim that Sonoma is actually snappier. What do you guys think?
