VoodooI2C Skylake hotpatch
Image
Hi All, I'm working on hacking an old Asus laptop I have lying around and almost everything works great. Right now I'm trying to convert VoodooI2C's DSDT changes to ACPI hotpatches, and I have all of them working except for the Skylake patch, which I need as I'm on Skylake and the touchpad doesn't work without it. So far I have been unable to get the patch working as a simple DSDT override as it creates tons of errors within my DSDT (doesn't even compile afterwards), which has made it far more difficult to even understand what the patch does. Relevant Specs (I can provide ofc more but they shouldn't matter for this): ASUS GL552VW i7 6700HQ ELAN 1000 (I'm using the VoodooI2CELAN satellite kext) (_SB.PCI0.I2C1.ETPD in my DSDT) I followed the vanilla OC guide and the official VoodooI2C dev guide for its DSDT patches I'm going to attach my raw decompiled DSDT and what I have so far . Thanks! submitted by /u/EasyBot01 [link] [com...

Legion 5i 15in hackintosh, anyone considering it?
Image
I'm looking for a compatible 10th gen intel driven laptop to make a hackintosh. I know 10th gen and laptop and 2 very tough to call atm. So Im wondering if anyone else is considering this model. I landed on this machine after a lot of research but some other models I was considering are the following. Razor blade 15 (2019 base model) <-- already hackintoshed but 9th gen cpu. Lenovo IdeaPad L340 15 <-- already hackintoshed but 9th gen cpu. My only other concern is getting a full SATA slot, I know its nuts cuz m.2 is faster but I want a big drive inside my laptop and something I can easily replace. All of the above have that and the only 1 not to be hackintoshed is the legion 5i. submitted by /u/madhits [link] [comments] [► Source]

Looping error when trying to boot OpenCore USB.
Image
I figured I would give OpenCore a shot with my laptop, if anything, just to play around. I made the USB drive per the directions on the OpenCore guide. When booting I am getting this error loop over and over again. Error being seen It looks to be an issue the the Embedded Controller SSDT, but I can't figure out how to correct it. Any suggestions would be awesome and much appreciated. submitted by /u/cr0wstuf [link] [comments] [► Source]

Won' Boot From USB Opencore EFI
Image
Hey everybody, Currently on my first attempt at a Hackintosh and I seem to be stuck on the installation part. I created my EFI, added all my necessary kexts, made my config list, etc. However once I plug in my USB with my EFI partition to my computer and select it as my boot option it boots to my bios. This computer is fresh btw with no software installed. Could you guys give me a hand and help me figure out what I might have done wrong and best possible fix please? Dell 5577 Laptop Audio Issue
Image
Hi everyone, I've been running Mojave on this laptop for a while, and it works nicely for the most part, but I have problems with the audio. The thing is that I never know when the audio will work, since it sometimes just recognizes my internal speakers and sometimes it doesn't. Does anybody know any fix? There are times when I just reboot and my speakers appear in my sound options, but most of the times they don't. The sound card is an ALC256 and I followed this guide to get it working. (kind of) https://techposts.org/fix-realtek-alc256-audio-macos-hackintosh/ Any help is greatly appreciated :) submitted by /u/benjaminpartida [link] [comments] [► Source]

The journey from Clover to OpenCore
Image
Finally I was able to successfully transition to OpenCore 0.5.9 from Clover. CPU: Intel i5 7600K GPU: Intel HD630 (iGPU, enabled), Nvidia GTX 1060 3GB (eGPU, disabled) RAM: 2X8GB GSKILL DDR4 2400CL15 Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX Z270H Audio Codec: SupremeFX S1220A Ethernet Card: Intel I219V WiFi/BT Card: DW1560 What guide/tool followed: opencore 0.5.9 or clover 5120 What part I got an issue with: Intel HD630: Pink Screen issue. Followed the guide here . Disabled Nvidia GTX 1060. Followed the guide here for opencore, clover was also similar. Motherboard was not booting and getting stuck at #LOG:EXITBS:START. The option "SyncRuntimePermissions" also helped fixing dual boot issues with Windows 10. Dual boot works properly, still need to figure out how to add my Linux setup into the mix. Windows 10 was pre-configured on another SSD so it did not have to play with the Boot Camp settings/drivers. Really would love inputs on how I can improve the confi...
BOOTX64 does not work from drive - Laptop
Image
I've followed this guide on github to the letter to install Mojave on a Thinkpad T440p. Everything works great from USB and I can run the install, but after following post-install steps it refuses to boot from the local drive. I can only "boot from recovery" or the USB. The only time it managed to boot from the drive was during the install when it restarted a few times. I got some helpful info from tonymacx86 forums that explained that sometimes you have to manually add BOOTx64 as a bootable target from the UEFI Shell. After messing around a bit in the shell I managed to add it as a boot option (the one on drive, not USB); I thought this was the ticket. Sadly, even with the option to boot from this device, it still takes me back to Clover "boot from recovery. Very frustrating. So I installed macOS on my laptop and everything is running fine. Everything is fully functional and there are no issues until we get to the Battery Life. Help with iMessage not working on a virtual box
Image
So first off I know that you shouldn't post about virtual machines here but I think that this community would be the most knowledgeable about that kind of thing. I tried to stay within the spirit of the rules hear but if mods feel otherwise just let me know and I'll take it down. I'm just really confused about this. So I have been at this most of the day now and just can't seem to figure this out. whenever I try to log into iMessage with my Apple ID it sends a verification code to my phone but when I type it in it just loads for a few seconds then errors out. I did some research and I think it's that my virtual machine doesn't look like an apple device to the servers. From what I can gather it looks like it has something to do with my device's NVRAM (sorry I can be more specific I don't understand it myself). I tried following some guides online to fix it, which involved mounting EFI Partitions using Clover Configurator. But when I open the partition in...

I have an Intel NUC 10 i5 with 256 gb ssd. I tried using an external ssd because I thought It may be because of the M.2 ssd port. All the bios setting I verified twice. Here is the EFI Folder I was able to boot into Catalina successfully and everything worked excluding WIFI of course. Problem is when trying to update to Big Sur I already updated all the kexts and drivers to open core 0.6.0 so I believe that shouldn't be the problem https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/16E09QsfLhp1GzGqNTWLuzqh3-28QXHGs?usp=sharing submitted by /u/Kb756523 [link] [comments] [► Source]

Does anyone know if you can get ANY version of mac OS running on the alienware alpha? trust me i have tried all the guides that are available, ive tried on here and on tonymacs website, i tried a complete vanilla install guide from here and the unibeast methods over at tonymacs. Does anyone have any suggestions or even a possible fix, ive tried literally everything and nothing seems to work i know that the newer versions MAC OS are not compatible but ive tried Yosemite, Sierra, High sierra and El capitan and none of them work with the same error that when im booting up with the gpu selected and it just turns off the monitor ill list all th...

Powercolor RX 5700 XT Red Devil works fine (apart from 3D acceleration) since months. Why?
Image
In February, I built my first Hackintosh (and PC) and am quiet happy with it ever since. Of course, much credit goes to this very community! It is a dualboot machine, so I use Windows for games and macOS for everyday stuff and work. The other day I was asked on one of my guide posts here whether my Hackintosh has 3D acceleration. I went and tried one of my games (Hitman 1) on macOS and indeed it is quiet laggy when looking around and moving the character; on Windows I, of course, have no issues. So, I guess, 3D acceleration indeed doesn't work. As I do graphics intense things on Windows I don't care much, but naturally I want a fully working Hackintosh... I looked into the issue and discovered on the quiet new Dortania OpenCore Guide, that my Graphics Card, the Powercolor RX 5700 XT 8GB Red Devil is actually said to be avoided (contrary to recommendations of this community in December): the specific brand to avoid 100% is Powercolor [...] regardless of what core they r...

Hello everyone! I tried to setup High Sierra with Clover, but was recommended OpenCore, so here I am (using 0.5.9). Unable to boot to new Windows 10 install after attempting to Hackintosh NUC Skull Canyon
Image
I am hopeful someone will be able to help me solve this issue, thanks in advance. Over the weekend, I attempted to install Catalina 10.15.6 on my NUC Skull Canyon, OpenCore 0.5.9. After following great tutorial by Alex Porter on GitHub, I ended up with the NUC being stuck on Apple logo during the initial install. There were few issues that came up during verbose boot, anyway I raised the issue and abandoned the project for time being. Subsequently, I tried to reinstall Windows 10 on the same SSD - used the W10 install USB to format the primary install partition. However, even though I did new install on the freshly formatted partition SSD, Windows will not boot normally UNLESS the original OpenCore installation USB is inserted in the machine. During this instance, the PC finds the USB Catalina/OpenCore EFI (I am guessing) and loads the OC boot manager that then lets me select Windows 10. Also, the SSD shows in boot manager as UEFI drive, but the NUC will not recognize it as bootable....
Hackintoshing an Intel NUC (8i3BEH) to use as a Plex server — will it limit the hardware transcoding capabilities?
Image
TL;DR: I need OSX for HFS+ file system support — will hackintoshing a NUC limit the capabilities of the hardware that allow it to be a great Plex server? For many many years now, I've been using my iMac with 20TB of storage connected to it as a Plex server. But I'm tired of leaving it on 24/7, as it's a power hog and the sustained powered-on state has slowed it down significantly. I've been looking at switching to the NUC8i3BEH as the plex server connected to my 4-bay enclosure, because I'm tired of investing more and more money into this, and wanted something cheap that would get the job done. I was all set to purchase, but then remembered something — my 20TBs of media are all on drives formatted with Mac OSX Extended (HFS+), and a NUC running Windows or Linux won't be able to read them. There are workarounds for this, software that will allow Windows to read and write with HFS+ drives. But I keep seeing problems with the software that have corrupted some pe...

Someone got AX201 and iGPU on 10th Gen Working (?)

https://blog.daliansky.net/Lenovo-Xiaoxin-PRO-13-2019-and-macOS-Catalina-Installation-Tutorial.html I know most of you won't be able to read chinese (i can only read traditional, this is simplified), but it looks as if he managed to get both wifi/BT (AX201) and the iGPU (both DP and HDMI) working on his lenovo laptop, seems like good news!
