MacBook 12“ OCLP & CreativeCloud
Image
Hi Guys, So a few days ago i bought a 12“ MacBook as second device and before you hate on it, i got it out of mere interest in how bad it is. I installed Sonoma via OCLP and to be honest - It’s a decent device if you’re just doing basic tasks. I mean yes it’s slow, but i expected it to be worse and it has done everything well for 2-3 days Yesterday, i wanted to test out the limits and installed Photoshop and InDesign trough my CreativeCloud and everything was alright - Until i started up my Mac today and everything was running EXTREMELY laggy and slow, i uninstalled everything related to the CreativeCloud because i suspected it to be the issue but it’s still not getting smoother. Does anyone know the issue or how to fix it? Or do i have to reset it to factory and reinstall everything? Would be pretty annoying! Thanks for your help submitted by /u/Remarkable_Choice_81 [link] [comments] [► Source]
Is it possible to update from Opencore Big Sur to Monterey?
Image
Hey guys I have a MacBook Air Early 2015 running on 10.15 Catalina and I would like to update it to Big Sur and maybe Monterey later. Even though this laptop is officially supported for OS 11 and OS 12, I would like to install it using Open core so that I get to enjoy all the features of the operating system. I just want to know if it’s possible to update to OS 12 from inside the patched version of OS 11 on my computer and also if it’s possible to use the patcher again and install OS 12 submitted by /u/technogeekshoaib [link] [comments] [► Source]
Do NOT update/install Sonoma 14.7.6 on the Early 2014 Macbook Air (a1466)
Image
Just making this post as a warning to all of you A1466/2014 MBA owners. I was on Ventura before wanting to upgrade to Sonoma - and as I updated to 14.7.6, I was stuck in kernel panics upon boot: - Kernel panics right after install - Booting into safe mode worked, and I attempted to install root patches, but upon reboot, the same kernel panics persisted - I tried NVRAM resets, safe mode, many times with root patches, with no avail The culprit of the kernel panics was the Intel Haswell HD 5000 driver, or something similar. I then attempted to install Sonoma 14.7.5 , as I had previously run it on a similar machine. The installation ended up being flawless , so the new update probably broke something. So, the fix is to downgrade from 14.7.6 to 14.7.5 This could be a known issue, but I'm just making this post to hopefully help anyone with/ the same issue. submitted by /u/sdb__ [link] [comments] [► Source]
I'm afraid to boot into my Bootcamp Windows 10 partition for fear of a Windows update messing with the OpenCore boot loader
Image
It's been almost a year since I booted into my Windows 10 installation on my MacbookPro. I currently have macOS 14.4 Sonoma installed and it's working well. I have a project that needs to use a Windows only application, so I really need to boot into Windows. What are the chances that an automatically installed Windows update fubars my MacOS and what sort of plan can I have in place to resolve it if it does? submitted by /u/PK_Rippner [link] [comments] [► Source]
Doubt about this 2009 iMac
Image
I wonder if I can buy this iMac for only $45.65 which is equivalent to Q350 in my country, it has those stains, but it scares me since they have mentioned that the screens are expensive and I don’t want to invest better, I buy two iPad Air 2 or the iMac is fine, the person on the iMac says it wasn’t wet or anything, it will be because of the heat plus humidity. submitted by /u/Illustrious_Phase_95 [link] [comments] [► Source]
Best MacOS for MBA Late 2010 with 4GB RAM and 250GB SSD?

Inspired by another thread… I recently resurrected an ancient MBA. After thoroughly cleaning it and putting in a new battery that I got cheaply, it’s purring and running like new. I’d like to give it a new life and I’ve used OCLP before. Wondering which MacOS y’all would recommend for this lil guy? submitted by /u/mrfredngo [link] [comments] [► Source]

Text illegible when scrolling through Dock folder.
Image
Macbook Pro 15 Mid 2012, currently running Sequoia and OCLP 2.4.0. I've got my Applications folder on my Dock for quick access, and have it configured in Options to "View contents as List". Been working this way since OS X Leopard. With OCLP, when click the folder it displays the list scrolled to the bottom, which is normal and fine, but when I scroll higher in the list, the initial text doesn't move and it scrolls a copy of the contents underneath the initial text, making it nearly unreadable. Is this a known issue? I've experienced the same thing on different hardware and with Sonoma and OCLP as far back as 2.1.2. submitted by /u/nunio_besnes [link] [comments] [► Source]

Image
So I have a question what version of the OCLP should I be using because I am just using the latest version and the Mac that the latest version of Mac OS that supports it is Mac OS 12.7.3 I believe so that would be Monterey 0.7 so I have a question I'm trying to get up to the next one which is Ventura yes I need Ventura and not Monterey I was hoping that someone could help me here because I don't know what version I am supposed to be using and every time I make my installer it just says macos venter is not not compatible with this iMac so yeah it's annoying I would love if someone could reach out to me and help me work this out because this is quite the annoying issue submitted by /u/HotEquivalent8402 [link] [comments] [► Source]
Best Mac OS for 2011 Mac Mini?
Image
I successfully got Big Sur running on my 2011 Mac Mini (16gb RAM, temporarily using a 500GB HDD, upgrading to SSD soon), but the text looks like hot garbage. It’s not an OCLP issue from what I’ve read, as many apple forum users had complained about it, with a handful of fixes that didn’t entirely fix it for me. My display is a Qled 43” tv, which meant it was a coin flip as to whether my monitor would be one of the ones it looks bad on. However, it means I’m having to properly think about changing to a different OS. I got a migraine after tinkering for a while, and I’m not completely sure if it was triggered by the crap text (I have a visual processing disorder) or some other medical stuff I have going on. Which one would people recommend? I don’t want to fry my unit and I’m happy to step down an OS, but wanted to see what other people thought about which one would be a better fit. submitted by /u/Performer-Pants [link] [comments] [► Source]
Throwing in the towel
Image
I’ve tried different iterations of OCLP including 2.4.0. I’ve tried fresh install, on top of High Sierra, on the HD and on the SSD. No luck, hangs up on the progress bar. Mid 2011 iMac 27” 32 GB RAM 3GB Nvidia (orig card failed) 1TB SSD 2TB HD Operates with High Sierra just fine. I was successful with my 2012 MacBook Pro. Any suggestion? submitted by /u/Miserable_Bug_5022 [link] [comments] [► Source]

Updating build from Sequoia to Tahoe (public) beta
Image
Not sure what much to say here, but it's a good bid to just share my experience when I updated my build from Sequoia 15.5 to the public Tahoe beta. My build is nothing special: HP Z230, i5-4590, recently installed RX 560, 32 GB DDR3. I purchased and installed the RX 560 to get a better SMBIOS (which I am utilizing MacPro7,1), which turned out successful. I decided to take a shot for the Tahoe update with both the InstallAssistant.pkg and at System Settings, both of which, after 1 restart during install, ended in nested kernel panics (which didn't frighten me but disappointed me and made me sad) I'm not smart enough to look through logs, but other internet experiences said that looking through potentially obstructing kexts and SecureBootModel in the config.plist not being on "Disabled" might cause the panics. I tried disabling AppleALC at first, which didn't push it in a better direction. Again, I tried with AppleALC and WhateverGreen, and, to all of my s...

Is Ventura still good in 2025?
Image
Hi guys, few weeks ago I've got a free iMac. It's a very old one, 2012 late with 8gb ddr 3 and 2.7 GHz old intel cpu. I replaced the HDD to SSD and ppdated to Catalina the latest officially supported os. Then I tried OCLP, three times all failed, then I found a solution on Reddit, use old 1.5.0 OCLP instead of the newest build , and successfully installed Ventura on this old mac. I think I will just stay at ventura, because the newest os would be too much for this old guy. Is Ventura still ok in 2025? I have almost zero knowledge about apple products. Thank you so much. submitted by /u/Shirt-Big [link] [comments] [► Source]

Suddenly getting keychain issues after an OCLP upgrade
Image
About 2 weeks ago I upgraded my Macbook Air 2013 to MacOS Sonoma, and it went quite smoothly. I've been using the laptop lightly every day, mainly doing web stuff, plus MS Word/Excel/Outlook. Yesterday, for the first time, I took the laptop on the road and tried to open an excel spreadsheet located on a OneDrive folder, before I had established a WiFi connection. I was prompted with https://preview.redd.it/38qllut3bdff1.png?width=833&format=png&auto=webp&s=acfaa2b43dcb19bbad38e4b2b4da2ea17d52e4fb I have never seen this before, and I've NEVER used (knowingly) the 'keychain'. I had no idea 'what' password was being asked for - it just says 'enter the "login" keychain password' - but what password is this? My laptop's local password? My AppleID password? I tried both, and neither were accepted. Various google searches suggested I take certain actions, and I followed a few guides, but they wanted me to 'lock' the ...
Thanks to the OCLP team! Sequoia without USB drive

USB is done for on my little toy 12" MacBook, but due to the sophisticated nature of the OCLP I was able to use the partitioning trick and install Sequoia. What if we create a macOS version like “Sobert Leopard” after Intel support and security updates end?
Image
Hello there, with Apple announcing that macOS Tahoe will be the last version to support Intel Macs, I’m wondering about the future of my 2014 Mac Mini, which runs Sequoia smoothly thanks to OCLP. I came across the “Sobert Leopard” project, a modified Mac OS X Leopard that keeps PowerPC Macs updated with modern apps and security patches. What if we had something like a “Sobert Tahoe” for Intel Macs? A community-driven macOS Tahoe fork that keeps our Intel machines alive with updated software and security fixes, even after Apple drops support. Do you think this could work? Has anyone considered starting a project like this for Intel Macs? submitted by /u/UpstairsJournalist99 [link] [comments] [► Source]
