How are people running Sequioa so smoothly on their 2013 Macbook Pros?
Image
I have an early 2013 Macbook Pro 15" with i7 4 cores/8 threads and 8gb of ram and Nvidia GT650m. This struggles with Sonoma and even Ventura is kind of laggy. I just don't understand how ppl are running Sequioa running smoothly on their 2013 Macbooks, even ones with just dual core. submitted by /u/Chricton [link] [comments] [► Source]

Macbook Pro Mid 2015 - Need Sequoira 15.6 to access final cut pro
Image
Howdy! Got a mac from 2015, APPLE WON'T LET ME DOWNLOAD FINAL CUT ON IT WITHOUT SEQUOIRA 15.6 AHHHHH. They refuse to let me download an older version of the app even though I own the damn thing. Angry, yes. Just heard about open core legacy patcher - never used it before and frantically googling the risks and how to get it lol. What are the odds that Sequoira 15.6 will run on my mac before I risk it. If I managed to get it installed, would i then be able to download final cut???!! https://preview.redd.it/q0mbvvt6m4fg1.png?width=528&format=png&auto=webp&s=bcb1bc1ece705ad79bc4c67680927981fab1ed5f submitted by /u/Zealousideal_One3030 [link] [comments] [► Source]

AirPlay Receiver on Mac mini 2018 (Success)
Image
I tried to achieve this for about 5 days and successfully made it. The main problem was "recent" update of Sequoia to 15.5. After that version it's no longer possible to activate AirPlay Receiver on "unsupported" Mac's and especially Mac mini 2018 (SMBIOS spoofing to Mac mini 2020 isn't possible due to Apple Silicon). TL:DR, all you need is macOS Sequoia 15.4 or lower and manually add FeatureUnlock.kext to OpenCore (because OpenCore won't enable it in GUI) and add in bootargs this: kern.hv_vmm_present=1 macOS Sequoia 15.2 I found on Github , it's in ISO format, but in there actual macOS Installer.app, you can just mount it in macOS and copy via Terminal to Applications folder and then with OpenCore flash it to USB drive submitted by /u/Veyron2K [link] [comments] [► Source]
Which OS should I download for my 2013 27" iMac (8 GB RAM)?
Image
I just inherited this lovely old iMac from my grandfather. The screen is just gorgeous, but she's stuck in Catalina! My question to the OpenCore community is, which OS should I upgrade to? Naturally I want to aim for the newest one available (Sequoia), but there's probably a good reason why older options are still available. So I figured I'd ask someone who knows better - which would you pick if you were in this situation? A little more context - Most intense use it'll see is running Discord & a few tabs of Chrome at the same time. Maybe some Affinity & games no more taxing than Amongus. I am upgrading it to a Samsung T7 SSD this evening and may add some RAM, although I'm not sure if that'll even be necessary. submitted by /u/Wild-BB [link] [comments] [► Source]

Updating
Image
Hello! I recently upgraded my late 2012 imac that I was gifted, which was running Catalina to Ventura using OCLP and a video I found on youtube. I was wondering if this is the best OS to use for my mac? Is there anyone with my same mac that is running anything newer with little to no problems? Thank you! submitted by /u/Abxud [link] [comments] [► Source]
Will the people who develop OCLP possibly continue OCLP but with M series macbooks?
Image
It sucks that OCLP will end once apple fully ditches MacOS for Intel macbooks (well...they already have with Tahoe, but I mean security updates n all that) but im wondering if the project can be continued but with the M macbooks. Im pretty sure every M macbook currently can go up to Tahoe and whatevers after but when there comes a time (for example the M1 air) cannot go to the newest OS version im hoping the OCLP team will start developing stuff for the M cpu's. submitted by /u/PsychonixMimikyu [link] [comments] [► Source]

Install Sequoia with OCLP
Image
Hi! I'm hoping someone can clear up a couple of doubts for me. I have a mid-2012 13-inch MacBook Pro with a 2.5GHz i5 processor, 16GB of 1600MHz RAM, and Intel HD Graphics 4000. Currently, I've been using Sonoma with OCLP (updated to the latest version) for a few months now, and it works perfectly. I'd like to install a newer version and was thinking about Sequoia. I understand that anything newer than this wouldn't run smoothly. My question is, how can I upgrade from Sonoma to Sequoia with OCLP? Can I do it through the system's "Software Update" settings? I'm not sure how to proceed. My other question is, I get this photo update notification. If I update it, could that cause any problems? Thank you so much for your help. Installed macOS Sequoia yesterday, graphics stopped working after a restart today
Image
They worked absolutely fine yesterday, then I shut it down and booted it up today and suddenly I have no graphics drivers. I seemed to have fixed the issue but I just wanted to confirm if this is the right way to do it, and if anybody might be aware of why this could have happened in the first place? I opened the OpenCore-Patcher app > Post-Install root patch > revert root patches > reboot. After the reboot I automatically got prompted to install the root patches, which I did. Everything seems to be in order by the looks of it, but I'd just rather be safe than sorry so I thought I might ask here. Any recent updates on T2 support at all?
Image
Got myself a MacBook Air 2018 today for college that's stuck on Sonoma, despite that I'm still loving it, but would still wanna eventually get some of the newer features introduced by Sonoma. I'm new to the whole OpenCore thing so I'm not sure if the devs ever really update on things like this but has there been any word on if there's been progress on T2 support as of recent? submitted by /u/Time-Eagle9507 [link] [comments] [► Source]
Imac 13.2 late 2012 27” 32gb of nvidia ram
Image
Good evening I'm having a problem with my iMac. A while ago, I used Open Core to install a newer version of macOS. It seemed to work, but then one day I got stuck on the Apple logo and the Start menu. I then realized I was in a kernel panic. Now I've also created a target disk to format the internal drive, because otherwise, even USB drives won't boot. With Open Core and installing Sonoma, I managed to install, but with problems. When I press EFI Boot, the USB drive goes black and reverts to the previous state. I install everything, but It freezes immediately. I read that you should install the latest supported version first. I create the USB stick but it doesn't work. It crashes in verbose with btex code, like "cpu/gpu unsupported." It tells me... What can I do? Because I'd hate to throw it away. submitted by /u/Icy-Requirement-3540 [link] [comments] [► Source]
2017 Macbook Pro 3.1ghz - Do I sonoma or stay on Ventura?
Image
Just looking for advice from those that have done it. Ventura has been awesome but id prefer a bit more compatability. Especially for things like Final Cut Pro. My main gripe these days is that sometimes my battery life is 10hrs, sometimes it's 5, sometimes only 2. I don't know if Sonoma would a better job of battery optimisation or if its better to stick with Ventura? submitted by /u/Business-Eggs [link] [comments] [► Source]
Screenshot not working
Image
Hi guys, Since last update to Safari 26.2 running on Sequoia 15.7.3, my MBP 2009 stopped reacting to screenshot commands (all of them!). I checked shortcuts settings, tried launching from Preview, also tried resetting SMC as recommended by Apple for this kind of defect on early days of Sequoia. Nothing helped. It does this both on my main account (admin) and on my daughter’s one. Does anyone have similar issue? If yes, any chance you fixed it and can help? Thanks! 🙏 submitted by /u/LukeDuke74 [link] [comments] [► Source]
Help

I want to switch to Sequoia, but my audio stops working; it only detects the audio from my monitor, not from my PC's output. What should I do?, I already installed OCLP and when I run it as root, I get an error. Smoothest macOS for 2020 Intel MBP?
Image
Hi all, I have the 2020 Intel i5 MacBook Pro (A2289) and have had it since 2020. I'm not planning on replacing it for at least 3 years or so. I'm on the latest version of Sequoia but I can't help but feel it is a little slow and buggy for a smooth experience. I have Monterey OCLP on a mid 2011 iMac and it works flawlessly; do you think there is a macOS in particular that on OCLP runs smoothly and quickly with few bugs, still has most app support etc? Quick question - If I were to reset the Mac, would macOS would it offer to reinstall? Would it be Catalina as that's what it arrived with, or Sequoia again as the latest complete macOS build? Any help hugely appreciated, thanks! submitted by /u/Tasty_Flamingo7346 [link] [comments] [► Source]
MacPro 6,1 SSD missing after Sonoma OCLP install
Image
Hi, I got my MP 6,1 recently and upgrade it to Monterey, then from Monterey I installed Sonoma with OCLP. For a while everything was going well, except some issues installing apps and the system reporting architecture of i386, but working. I can tell If I installed an update or the Tahoe auto update F me up. But after a few days I noticed my Mac Pro was getting freeze and then I couldn't find my SSD to boot. I tried to go into recovery mode, boot selection and there was no SSD (disk utility will not show it). I tried recovery forms he network, Sonoma USB and Monterey USB and no disk. Just some time I can boot when hooding option/alt on start up or just leaving the computer for a long while turn off. I wonder if I run into issues with OCLP or Tahoe/Sonoma Auto updates or it is just my machine broken somehow. Any SSD first aid and HW test report just fine for me. Appreciate the help, I just landed on OCLP and it's been a while I don't do mackintosh so I am a bit outda...
Is it safe to do this?
Image
I have a 21.5 inch late 2013 iMac, it had initially run Catalina, then I used OCLP to get it running on macOS 13, I later decided to use bootcamp and dual-boot Windows 10 on a second partition and the OCLP version on it. My main issue now is wether it is safe to reinstall Windows through the settings menu, if I use a cloud download will the iMac be able to connect during the boot? And if I use the installation media, could that mess with the dual boot? Not sure if this is the best place to ask this, but I'm quite worried about it. submitted by /u/JillinJallan [link] [comments] [► Source]

Before You Use OCLP Do this
Image
Before you begin to play with OCLP, use either Carbon Copy Cloner (CCC) or SuperDuper! to make a bootable version of an APFS formatted copy. I use SuperDuper most often and format it as APFS; then clone my existing system so that it is bootable. Test it first. I have had to resort to using this a handful of times. Having a non-OCLP backup will save you headaches if you screw something up. Also, once you convert to OCLP, SuperDuper! does not allow you to create a bootable clone after. So back up your User files. What as worked in the past after experimenting on a Mac Pro 6,1 is that I roll back the root patches, run SuperDuper! and then reinstall the root patches. This creates a copy, but it is not bootable. submitted by /u/BB_MacUser [link] [comments] [► Source]

Macbook Pro 11,1 (Sonoma) won't connect to iCloud (and when it does, FaceTime and iMessage don't work

I've heard of this happening but this is the first time it's happened to me so I'd appreciate any input: got a 13" 2013 MacBook Pro (MBP11,1); fans were blasting at full speed and it was kinda laggy. Didn't show any serial number or Mac year in the About view but I thought it was a bug upgraded to highest official OS (Big Sur) and still wasn't seeing serial info. Fans still blasting. Booted into Diagnostics and it said missing serial number; I used the Boot flashing tool from Mac Repository I think I is to see the serial number to what is on the bottom of the Mac (after confirming that serial number corresponded to the specs); serial number works yay but still blasting fans; upgraded to Sonoma via OCLP and checked Disable Firmware Throttling in OpenCore but fans still blast; logged in to iCloud but iMessage and FaceTime werent working (no errors, just couldn't make/send or receive calls or messages); tried the SMBIOS spoofing in OCLP using the seri...

MacPro 6,1 hoping to go from Monterey to Sonoma, Xcode compatibility?
Image
Hello, first time posting there, I have a 6-core MacPro 6,1 with 20gb ram that I am hoping to update. From looking through posts on this sub it seems like Sonoma might be best for me, (let me know if that is not a good assessment please). I am however concerned because I have been using this machine to develop a mac app in xcode version 14.2, will I likely have issues with my project if I update the OS passed Monterey? submitted by /u/mrandrewfreedman [link] [comments] [► Source]
