Why did you guys/gals build a hackintosh?

So much of this sub is build help and in many cases, frustration.... i'm curious why everyone went down this road.

For me, I originally wanted a more powerful machine than my MacBook Pro for editing video for my job at the time. Since then it's turned into my music production machine and I've since ditched the Macbook. And of course, cost of Apple's hardware was a big factor when I got started (- this is still the case!).
