Time to update?

Question for those who'll have a better understanding than I do..

I'm currently on 10.12.6 High Sierra (old I know..) and would like to update to Catalina if possible. But with the recent changes regarding NVIDIA and the insaneness of installing all the right kexts and stuff, what CAN I update to with these specs?

CPU: Intel i7 4790K
GPU: EVGA NVIDIA GTX 1060
MB: MSI z97 Gaming 5
