Recently upgraded to Catalina and have run into an issue that seems to be common, however the obvious fix (WEG update) doesn't work for me.
My system has been running stable all the way up to 10.14.6. I upgraded to Catalina and the entire upgraded process happened in "silent" mode, i.e. blank screen, I couldn't see the progress of the update.
Once the upgraded completed, I'm presented with the Apple logo, the progress bar shows for about 1/5th and the screen goes blank.
