I’m trying to install macOS Sonoma on my MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) using OpenCore Legacy Patcher, but I keep hitting the same problem.
Here’s what’s happening:
- I created a Sonoma USB installer with OCLP (latest version).
- Booted into the USB, opened Disk Utility, and erased my internal drive (APFS, GUID).
- Selected Install macOS Sonoma from the recovery menu.
- The installation starts fine and gets to about 75% on the progress bar.
- Then the Mac restarts, and instead of continuing the install, I get a white screen with the “no” symbol (🚫).
It feels like the system isn’t installing.
Things I’ve tried:
- Booting back into the USB and starting the install again (same result).
- Erasing the drive completely and repeating the process.
- Tried setting EFI Boot as the default by holding Control and clicking it during the first boot (to avoid the no symbol), but after restart it still fails.
- Reset NVRAM
Any ideas why it’s failing to continue after the restart?
