I've just read an article (https://eclecticlight.co/2017/09/24/high-sierra-automatically-checks-efi-firmware-each-week/) about this. I'm still on 10.12.6 Sierra so I don't know for sure if the binary they mention is there. Perhaps, if it is, it could be deleted to prevent it from checking and sending Apple the data?
