The 10.13.0 installer kernel panics; I couldn't get this to work for now. I may revisit this later to see if I can fix it.
I could not find a working 10.12.6 installer, so I used the 10.12.0 that I had to make a boot device. This necessitates setting SMBIOS to iMac17,1 and FakeCPUID to Skylake as Kaby Lake is not supported until 10.12.6.
I then immediately updated Lilu.kext and IntelGraphicsFixup.kext, upgraded to 10.12.6 with the combo installer, and changed FakeCPUID to a Kaby Lake and iMac18,3
With this I was able to get graphics kinda working. com.apple.driver.AppleIntelKBLGraphicsFramebuffer gets loaded (but that's the only one with KBL in its name) but GLview shows Apple Software Render and I have no transparency. I would really like to get this fixed.
I kinda wish I would have just gone 200-series and 7700k, but hopefully in the future the bugs will get worked out.
I'd be happy to hear from anyone with integrated graphics knowledge, or worst-case, suggestions on a cheap, compatible GPU.
