A bodgers guide to Hackintosh

Ok, so this isn't really a guide, just a collection of weird bodges and lazy solutions I have used. Feel free to post your own in the comments

  • Have a legacy OS you want to boot into, but Clover doesn't see it? Don't worry! Just put the legacy OS as the second option in your motherboard boot order, and press "exit clover" to boot into your legacy OS.
  • Too lazy and/or incompetent to install and configure Clover? Just use unibeast and dd the unibeast EFI to your hard drive
  • Instead of getting actual hotkeys to work, use Karabiner Elements to remap the function keys.
  • If you don't want to format your drive, you can manually make an HFS+ partition from Linux. Just use hfsutils, hfsprogs, and gparted. Don't forget to make a partition for clover as well!
  • Your clover partition does not have to be the EFI System Partition. In fact, making it a generic FAT32 partition will make it automount for your convenience. It also means you can use the actual ESP for Grub and boot into Linux.
  • If you're going to have your Clover partition automount, you might as well make it a little larger than 200MB, so you can use it as a file exchange partition.
  • Use Onyx for macOS to configure hidden settings, e.g. using backspace to go to the previous page in Safari.

Disclaimer: most of these shouldn't really be used ever. I am not responsible.
