Hey Guys! This is my first time doing a hackintosh on the HP Pavilion DV4-1117NR. It is an old laptop, but I got it to work!
Specs: Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 2.0GHz Intel GMA 4500MHD(This was a pain to deal with) 4 GB RAM 165 GB Storage (Hoping to upgrade to an SSD soon)
What works: Mouse/Keyboard(Through VoodooPS2Controller) Battery Manager USB Ports (IOUSBFamily)
What Doesn't Work: GMA 4500MHD(I had to use GraphicsEnabler=No) WiFi(I don't know if HP whitelists Wifi cards or not on this laptop) Ethernet(Realtek Ethernet was a pain) Audio(I don't think IDT audio is supported, maybe give me a kext?)
Gray Area things: Sleep(Gives me a white screen, but doesn't actually sleep, probably having something to do with the gpu)
Things that need to be tested: HDMI
Let's Start this then shall we? Create the USB (I had to use a VM for this so....) 1. Go to your ACTUAL Mac, working Hackintosh, or use a VM and grab the Mountain Lion Installer 2. Download myHack 3. Install myHack 4. Enter Thy sudo password 5. SELECT THE OS X 10.8 INSTALLER 6. I used the Generic Extra that myHack provided, so this is up to you. 7. Kexts that need to go into /Extra/Extensions of USB + reasons why I selected these kexts: *IOATAFamily.kext (The BIOS CAN'T be modified whatsoever(unless you have a modified BIOS)) *IOUSBFamily.kext (USB Ports will be disabled) *ACPIBatteryManager.kext (To check laptop percentage) *VoodooPS2Controller.kext (This laptop has an ALPS touchpad, and unless you use a USB Keyboard/Mouse, you will need this kext in order to have full keyboard and mouse working in the installer) *If you used the Generic Extra, the vital kexts will be in there
Installation
QUICK DISCLAIMER: THE BIOS CANNOT BE MODIFIED AT ALL. FOR SOME REASON, HP DECIDED TO HIDE THE THINGS THAT MAKES RUNNING A HACKINTOSH EASIER FOR ME, SUCH AS USB LEGACY, SATA LEGACY, etc. THE ONLY THINGS THAT I CAN MODIFY ARE THE BOOT ORDER, THE TIME, AND RANDOM STUFF THAT IS USELESS TO ME. THIS TYPICALLY APPLIES TO WHOEVER DOESN'T HAVE A MODIFIED BIOS. I have done this on F.30 because the latest bios was giving me a headache, which is F.66. 1. Insert the USB into one of the ports. 2. Turn on the computer and Press F9. 3. Select your USB. 4. Press any key to launch the advanced boot options within myHack's Chameleon. 5. Boot Args That I Used: *GraphicsEnabler=No (GMA 4500MHD is A pain) *USBBusFix=Yes (To enable USB Ports) 6. When You Reach the Installer Page, click the arrow 7. Click continue. 8. When You reach the Destination Select, Go to Utilities>Disk Utility. 9. Format your HDD to MAC OS X Extended(Journaled) and set the name to whatever name that you like (e.g. Macintosh HD, or OS X) 10. click on your HDD and press continue 11. when it says "About 1 minute", myHack will then appear and say that if you would like to use a generic Extra, Select Yes. 12.myHack will then say that there are some kexts that are to be removed, remove them. 13. when the installation is done, reboot 14. When you get back to myHack Bootloader, this time select your HDD and use these bootargs: *GraphicsEnabler=No *USBBusFix=Yes 15. If everything is working, you should see the select country page. Select whatever country you are from. 16. Select My computer doesn't use Internet. 17. Agree to the terms. 18 DO NOT SIGN IN AND DO NOT SELECT TURN ON LOCATION SERVICES!!!!!! 19 Select Start My Mac.
Post Install:
*If you want to UPDATE FOLLOW THESE STEPS 1.Grab the OS X 10.8.5 Combo Update 2. Put it on the USB 3. Mount the Combo Udate (It is a DMG FIle) 4. Run the .PKG file that is inside the mounted DMG FILE 5. Agree to Everything and INSTALL IT ON THE HDD 6 Reboot.
- If you have an extra USB, this would be the perfect time to use it
- Grab Kext Wizard
- I didn't use Champlist but if you want to, then go for it.
- If your installer USB is on your computer, go to /Extra/Extensions/
- Grab The Kexts that I Mentioned in step 7 of Create the USB onto the desktop
- Plug extra USB into One of the Ports, or if you have a hub then use it.
- Drag Kext wizard and Optional Champlist/ whatever chameleon manager there is onto the desktop. 6 Extract kext wizard/ whatever chameleon manager
- Open Kext Wizard. 8 DO NOT SELECT IOATAFAMILY.KEXT FOR THIS ONE Kexts to install to /S/L/E/ *IOUSBFamily.kext *ACPIBatteryManager.kext *VoodooPS2Controller.kext
- Install Kexts ONTO THE HDD NOT THE USB
- Repair Permissions, Reboot Hope this Helps!
