Hey r/hackintosh! I've recently wrote up a menu bar application for macOS that shows the current connection status for your USB WiFi. Personally, it makes accessing the Network information super easy and helps me connect faster than ever.
Required Kext: RT2870USBWirelessDriver.kext
Required Preference Pane: DWA-140WirelessUtility.prefPane
