How do I check if sleep is fully working on my hack?

Asking because I want to spare my laptops battery life (and couldn't find the answer elsewhere).
The screen does turn black when I close the lid, and shows the loginscreen when I reopen it, but I'm not sure if all components/peripherals go into a sleeping state.
