Which volume needs to load after an attempted update?

Hi All,

I have my hackintosh all set up and backed up ready for a security update on the app store. Only I set it going and after downloading and restarting it just brings me back to the login screen. I suspect it's trying to load a different volume for updating but clover is just making it load the default boot volume. Anyone know which one I need to use?
