NAS device for running MacOS in a VM?

I’m looking at buying a NAS device and I was wondering if it was possible to run MacOS in a VM for use as an iTunes server.

Or if I should just buy a NAS and a used MacMini.

I’ve looked at using daapd so that’s another option but I’m not sure if it works with video or just audio.
