Has anyone converted from Hackintosh to OSX as a VM? What were the drawbacks?

I'd really like to have an RTX2080 for gaming, but use OSX as my main OS. One way I could do both is to have Windows as the host OS and then run VMWare with OSX as a VM. This would likely fix any other hardware compatibility issues as well. I know I'll sacrifice some performance because the host OS uses CPU/Mem, but I have a 20 cores and 64gb of memory, so I'm not too worried about that.
