Hey all - this isn't my first hackintosh, and am actually trying to reinstall to two of my previous setups that worked well since 2011 (older gigabyte models),. In trying to update to -- unsure if it was Mojave or Catalina -- I screwed up a few things so thought I'd start from scratch; something is wrong and I'm having a time sorting out the issue via the tonymac forums.
I'm trying to install mojave on a setup that I've used previously, on a disk that works fine on any 'real' system -- but will not work on the hackintosh. Originally I could see the drive in the bios but not within the installer, then I changed to ahci and could see it in the installer but I can't install on the drive -- even if it's got a partition on it, it won't allow it and will only ask me to erase it, which I attempt, but it fails.
I've tried the drive all setup as MacOSExtended, or an APFS partition -- no go. I read I should wipe it as Fat32 and allow the installer to erase -- no matter what, the installer says there's an error and fails. Even tried diskutil partitionDisk but it fails in the end.
Is there something I've got to add to the EFI of the install drive? Update clover?
