Trouble Using Migration Assistant when Upgrading to Mojave

I'm currently running a hack that I set up using the Vanilla guide on the sidebar. I have been trying to load Mojave on a fresh drive and then use Migration Assistant to transfer all my stuff over from High Sierra, but that's failed every time. I can get Mojave running (though I've learned I'll need to get a new wifi card and haven't yet), but after I migrate my old data everything locks up. I've tried with "other files and folders" and "computer and network settings" turned off, but no luck, it locks up the first time I try to log in and I'm stuck. I've tried it a few times, and at this point I'm back to using my High Sierra drive.

Obviously something legacy on my computer is causing some issues. This computer, previous to this iteration as a Vanilla High Sierra machine was running Multibeast El Capitan, and I used migration assistant to pull my data back over when I made that switch. I had 'other files and folders' and 'computer and network settings' turned off, but I had (and have) an incomplete understanding of what Multibeast was doing to my files (part of why I dropped it) and I'm not sure if there's something lingering that's reared its head.

It might also be related to an issue that I'm seeing on this drive; I'm seeing a huge bloat of something hidden on the drive that's taking up 80 gigs. Whatsize ignores it, DaisyDisk lists it as "still hidden" space, and CCC doesn't appear to transfer it when doing backups. It's part of why I'm eager to get into a fresh install.

Anyone have any thoughts?
