Is Hackintool malware?

Why does Hackintool change the address of screen sharing, file sharing, etc. to include ec2 Amazon service? Is it malware, spyware, or a virus? It took my SMB:\local up address \ and changed it to SMB:\ ec2-Local-ip-address-something.amazon.com\

(Or something like that. Forgot to write it down before I wiped my system, and stared over.)
