Pleased as punch to get a working install of the latest version of macOS Ventura on my MBP 2013! So far it is working fine. I have not noticed any major glitches so far. I am pleased that I have extended the use of my MBP! I had been worried about OS & security updates as Big Sur is near it's end of life support.
My update was a bit convoluted but it worked. I installed Ventura via an external Nvme drive then after running it a bit I felt it was fine enough to put in as an internal drive. I set aside the Nvme Big Sur install for now. Also cleaned the exhaust fan with compressed air while I was swapping out the Nvme drive.
This was my first time using OCLP and it went fine. Dortania's guide was straight forward and super helpful! I also watched a YT video by Mr. Macintosh for extra reference.
I think the only part I found a little tedious during the install was holding down the Option key whenever my MBP rebooted and navigating to the installer and clicking on it. I had to repeat this process until my MBP finally booted into the setup of Ventura. Initially I did not do this and when I thought the install was done that Ventura would not boot. It was not until I re-read through Dortania that I was able to finally get the install to progress.
I also noticed when I finally got to the desktop environment that my MBP got hot from what I assume is the OS settling in with indexing and such. Currently it is running a bit cooler however I will be changing the brand of Nvme in the future to one that is more power efficient with less power drawing.
Everything works so far except for Weather which is glitchy. When I open the app it is somewhat zoomed in. When I expanded map and then tried collapsing the map it crashes. It is now stuck on the expanded map option. Not sure how to go back to the collapsed option. Any tips?
A new lease on life for my MBP. Thanks to the OCLP team!
