Is there a known-good combination of laptop and software that's good for a beginner?

I have to admit I find the Dortania documentation pretty exhausting to follow and I've struggled to get anything to even boot on my old Dell laptop.

Is there a known-good combination where this sub will confidently say "use this specific laptop then go to this guy's GitHub and there's a really high likelihood of success"?

I'm hoping to buy a laptop which has been tried and tested as hackintosh-compatible and cut down the variables.
