Guide:
If you're experiencing a pink screen on boot with your AMD Hackintosh, follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Check Graphics Card Configuration:
- Verify that your graphics card settings are correctly configured in your Hackintosh setup. Ensure that you have the appropriate framebuffer patching and device properties configured for your specific AMD GPU model.
Revert VBIOS Flash (if applicable):
- If you recently flashed a new VBIOS onto your graphics card, consider reverting to the original VBIOS to see if it resolves the pink screen issue. Flashing an incompatible or incorrect VBIOS can cause display problems.
Verify Display Connection:
- Double-check the connections between your graphics card and monitor. Ensure that the cables are securely plugged in and that there are no loose connections. Try using different display ports (HDMI, DisplayPort, etc.) on your graphics card if available.
Boot Flags and Bootloader Configuration:
- Experiment with different boot flags and bootloader configurations to see if they help resolve the issue. For example, you can try adding
agdpmod=pikeraorradpg=15as boot arguments in your bootloader configuration.
- Experiment with different boot flags and bootloader configurations to see if they help resolve the issue. For example, you can try adding
Disable Injecting AMD:
- Try disabling the injecting AMD option in your bootloader configuration and see if it resolves the pink screen issue.
Update macOS and GPU Drivers:
- Ensure that you are running the latest version of macOS compatible with your AMD GPU. Additionally, update any GPU drivers or patches to the latest versions available for compatibility with Sonoma.
Check for Hardware Compatibility:
- Confirm that your AMD GPU model is fully compatible with Hackintosh setups and that there are no known compatibility issues or limitations.
Test with Different GPU (if possible):
- If you have access to another compatible GPU, consider temporarily swapping it with your XFX RX 590 to determine if the pink screen issue is specific to the graphics card.
Seek Community Support:
- Visit online forums, Hackintosh communities, and Reddit groups dedicated to AMD GPU users for additional support and troubleshooting advice. Other users may have encountered similar issues and can provide valuable insights and solutions.
Reinstall macOS (if necessary):
- As a last resort, consider reinstalling macOS on your AMD Hackintosh setup to rule out any software-related issues that may be causing the pink screen problem.
By following these steps and carefully troubleshooting the pink screen issue, you can hopefully resolve the problem and restore normal functionality to your AMD Hackintosh.
| [HELP] Worked fine an hour ago but now a pink screen on boot submitted by /u/ComprehensiveShow147 I set up my AMD hackintosh today and all was going well. I flashed a new VBIOS onto my graphics card (XFX RX 590) to a Sapphire RX 590 and it worked great, but now i’m only booting up to a pink screen. I can disable hardware acceleration but that defeats the whole point of having a gpu in the first place. Is there any solution? [link] [comments] |
