MacBookPro11,3 (Late 2013) successfully updated to Sonoma 14.4 (with a minor snag)

  1. Updated OCLP to 1.4. Installed root patches and rebooted. OCLP docs say to do this first prior to installing Sonoma 14.4.
  2. Updated MBPro to Sonoma 14.4 using Software Update. As usually happens with this unit, on final reboot, login screen basically was not responsive. Then, a black screen appeared. I just waited, as it stayed that way for 5 minutes or so. Then, the login screen reappeared. Still wasn't super-responsive, but I could enter the password and login.
  3. At this point, I was notified that my FileVault recovery key had been updated and I made a note of the new key and dismissed the notification.
  4. OCLP prompted me to update the root patches and reboot, which I did.
  5. This is where the snag occurred. On reboot after applying root patches, I had no WiFi. In short, the solution is in the OCLP 1.4 changelog -- Forget the network and reconnect. Once, I did this, WiFi was all set.

Been up about 15 minutes. Looks good so far.
