Guide:
If you're facing graphics issues on your Dell XPS 9300 Hackintosh with an i7-1065G7 processor, particularly related to VRAM being stuck at 35MB and incorrect display recognition, follow these steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:
Update Lilu and WhateverGreen Kexts:
- Ensure you have the latest versions of Lilu.kext and WhateverGreen.kext installed in your EFI/CLOVER/kexts/Other folder.
- These kernel extensions are crucial for graphics acceleration and proper display recognition.
Proper Device Properties Injection:
- Use ProperTree or another plist editor to inject the correct device properties for your Intel iGPU (Iris Plus Graphics G7).
- Verify that the AAPL,ig-platform-id and device-id values are correctly set according to your CPU model.
Framebuffer Patching:
- Apply necessary framebuffer patches to your config.plist file to ensure proper display recognition and resolution.
- Verify that the framebuffer patches match your specific display configuration, including resolution, connector type, and port layout.
Verify SMBIOS Configuration:
- Ensure that you're using a compatible SMBIOS profile for your XPS 9300, such as MacBookPro16,2 or similar.
- Proper SMBIOS configuration can help with hardware recognition and compatibility.
Check BIOS Settings:
- Ensure that your BIOS settings are correctly configured, especially regarding any options related to iGPU settings or memory allocation.
- Look for options to enable/disable features like DVMT Pre-Allocated memory and set the memory size to a suitable value for graphics acceleration.
Monitor System Logs:
- Check system logs for any errors or warnings related to graphics initialization and driver loading.
- Use the Console application or Terminal commands to monitor system logs for relevant messages.
Experiment with Boot Flags:
- Experiment with boot flags related to graphics acceleration, such as -igfxvesa or -igfxdbg, to troubleshoot the issue.
- Some boot flags may help with VRAM detection and initialization.
Consult Community Resources:
- Seek assistance from online forums and communities dedicated to Hackintosh enthusiasts, such as InsanelyMac or Reddit's r/hackintosh.
- Experienced users may provide valuable insights and solutions based on their own experiences with similar hardware configurations.
By following these steps and experimenting with different configurations, you may be able to resolve the graphics issue on your XPS 9300 Hackintosh and achieve full iGPU power with the Intel Iris Plus Graphics G7. Remember to backup your system before making significant changes, and proceed with caution when modifying system files and configurations.
Hello everyone,
Sorry for my english, i'm French. I tried now for over 5 days to get these graphics fixed to get full iGPU power but now i'm at the end. I have read every forum and guide on Github, Reddit and more... I'm on macOS Big Sur version 11.7.10 and have the Dell XPS 13 9300 with the 4k touch display. To install the kexts, I used ProperTree to do it all manually. But I never had the full iGPU power, i'm blocked with the 35mb VRAM and my screen appears as an external 63inch monitor. Thanks !
