I have a 2016 MBP Intel 12.7.6 Monterey. I was looking for a workaround for iPhone mirroring and came across a program called OpenCore Legacy Patcher 2.2.0. So I installed sequoia.
I have a 2TB external SSD, and it formatted the entire drive for the EFI, and everything worked perfectly fine.
I needed the external for other files (FCP, Motion, Logic, etc.) so after the install, I wiped the external.
The OS worked perfectly, it was iCloud that gave me some issues.
So I decided to reformat using the boot option and disc utility. I erased everything and began the reinstallation of sierra (default for this model) to get back to Monterey. Except, I keep getting an error, and now I have no OS.
Turns out, I needed to keep the OCLP to uninstall everything from it, before trying to set back to factory defaults. So all I can do is get into the boot menu. But I can’t eject it or erase the stuff from OCLP without the image.
I’m the only one that has a Mac in the entire house. My wife uses surface pro 2.
And I’ve been scouring Reddit looking for anyone that can help, to no avail.
I didn’t back up ANYTHING (rookie mistake I know), and I’m wondering if I can possibly use a windows machine to install the stuff I need to my external and try to reinstall sequoia and then retro back to Monterey. Or if there’s any other way I’m open.
There’s currently NO OS to boot to, and I can only get into the menu by holding command +R during boot. And there doesn’t seem to be any help anywhere I can find. Not on the OCLP website, YouTube or Reddit (thus far).
I’m NOT an experienced coder, and I don’t have it to pay for any extra programs that cost.
I have installed transmac on the surface pro for the 15 day trial, but I have no clue what I’m doing out if this will even work.
Please help.
