Hello,
I have recently received a laptop that was previously owned. The previous owner did not disclose any issues, but said the video card was corrupted. I subsequently replaced the 4GB RAM with 16GB 1600MHz RAM, the battery, and a new SSD. I was able to recover (native) macOS High Sierra and then installed OCLP Ventura. After restarting the machine, I was stuck on the white screen and could boot the unit couldn’t reboot regularly. After several days of research, I discovered that 2011 laptops have an AMD GPU failure. Therefore, I was able to reinstall (native) macOS High Sierra and disable the AMD GPU using dosdude1’s technique in the terminal. At this point, macOS High Sierra is functional, except for adjusting the screen brightness.
I would like to inquire about the best OCLP macOS version to use for this laptop and whether I need to execute the GPU disable (dosdude1 method) again.
