Which version of macOS would you recommend

MBP mid-2012 13” running on 12gb ram and i5 + intel hd 4000 graphics

previously got sequoia running, but it was VERY slow and buggy (the stable version) and load time just to open an app was ~4-5 minutes and boot took ~15 minutes
