Intel m3-8100Y with UHD615

Hello!

I’ve been trying to see if I can get graphics to work properly for something that I think might be quite interesting. It’s for a GPD Pocket 2, which basically looks like a MacBook Nano.

The device has an Intel Amber Lake m3-8100Y, which is from the same series as the brand new 2018 MacBook Air, though the device has UHD615 graphics as compared to the Air’s UHD 617.

I’ve gotten Mojave to install, and can get to boot into macOS with the usual 8mb vram issue. I read up on framebuffer patching and followed the guides as best I can, and can actually get it working with macOS properly recognizing the IGPU, with hardware acceleration working. The kicker is though, this is only with an external display (HDMI out using a USB-C adapter).

I’ve been wrecking my brain on how to get this fixed, but I’ve been hitting a wall. I’m hoping people far more knowledgeable on these things might know what I’ve been doing wrong.

I’ve used the generated file from the debug versions of Lilu and WhateverGreen, imported it into fb-patcher and it lists four connections, the first being eDP (I forgot what abbreviation it uses to describe this one — I’m in the subway right now), the second DP but seemingly not connected to anything, the third DP which is my external (HDMI) monitor, and the fourth is listed as dummy. I have not yet tried changing the type definitions of these ports, perhaps that’s something I should do?

I can provide more information, screenshots and logs as requested. I wanted to write this up first to give you all a starting point. Any help you can provide will be much appreciated!
